Have a great & safe weekend and we'll see you on the road to Happy Destiny. And in the words of Bill W., "May God keep you until then".

Thursday, August 31

I think it has something to do with this August being a particularly difficult month. That is, my falling down on the posting job here at Happy Destiny Day as the month winds down.

We started out on August 1 with the the biggest flood in our town's recent memory followed by periodic flash flooding right up until last night. And even though it was nowhere near what the folks in other parts of the world have suffered recently, it was frightening at times and unsettling. We got to practice alot of faith and acquire a new understanding of powerlessness!

One of the good things that came out of it for me personally was a profound appreciation for my local AA clubhouse. For several days after the big flood, it was extrememly difficult to traverse the roads to get there. The club was dry, but there was a veritable mote around it. Then the mosquitos hatched.

So it's been an adventure down at Gratitude West. We're either swimming or swatting. And I think we're all very happy to say "Goodbye August 2006!"

Wow! Monday sped it's way here incredibly fast.

Happy anniversary to all trudgers on the road of Happy D.

More later!

Nope it's not my birthday. And noone's sobriety birthday that I know of. But it's got to be someone's. Someone out there is celebrating a hallmark in their daily reprieve.

So, I guess you could call this an open birthday journal of sorts; a place of cake & balloons.

If it's your birthday or the birthday of someone you love, click the "comments" line and put it out there. Like a message in a bottle (empty of course) or a candle wish.

Why am I doing this? Because I really like this whole blog thing. I have many favorites & another non-recovery-related blog. But the blogs I visit most are sober sites. Like half-nAAked Thursday, Attitude of Gratitude, Outright Mental Defect. A few among many.

Have fun! Comments & suggestions welcomed.

I feel like I've met a whole meeting's worth of new friends this week here in blog-land. Thank you all for your comments.

One of the things I love about active recovery is going to meetings on the road. I get the same feeling here. That incredibly special, indescribable joy in knowing that we are everywhere.

Went to my homegroup meeting tonight, which is the Questors women's group in El Paso, Texas. What a BEAUTIFUL group of women! Tried to find someone with an anniversary this week, but it wasn't to be. So it's up to you guys for now.

Again, thank you for adding to my happy, joyous freedom.

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOUGH GIRL! Two years is a true miracle. Congratulations on letting the miracle happen to you!

I am so jazzed to have the very first birthday posted here at Happy Destiny Day ON the very first day of Happy Destiny Day. (Did that make any sense at all?)

Oh, and Dough Girl, here are 2 candles for that cake of yours...

Today is my nephew's belly button birthday. He is 10. I have been sober for 7 of those years and I am so grateful for that. I am 99% certain that I wouldn't be around to see his 10th birthday if I hadn't been given the gift of sobriety by the grace of a loving God and the rooms of AA.

Happy Birthday Sam. I love you. And I love my fellow alkies out there doing it a day at a time.
